Process
A historical reconstruction approach: study, support preparation, traditional grounds/mediums, and layered execution.
1. Study & analysis
Composition, drawing structure, value range, colour relationships, edges and transitions.
Analysis of the likely surface build-up (grounds, underlayers, glazes, opaque passages) to reconstruct how light is made through paint.
2. Support preparation
Supports are prepared in the studio (canvas or panel): sizing, ground, and surface character adapted to the chosen reference and scale.
3. Grounds & mediums
When appropriate, traditional grounds and mediums are prepared in the studio to better match handling, transparency, and surface response.
4. Layered execution
Built in stages: drawing and mapping, value structure, colour construction, then refinement of edges, transitions, and surface.
Progress images can be shared at key milestones.
5. Finishing & delivery
Varnish and finish are adapted to the intended result. Professional packing and international shipping.
Confidential projects welcome upon request.
